In the internal order the reign of Felipe IV, that tried to have a reformist character, faced an economic recession, with four bankruptcies of the Real Property (1627, 1647, 1656 and 1662). The economic crisis, which was also felt in Europe, had a greater impact in Spain due to the high financial costs of foreign policy that caused a tax increase, the retention of precious metals remittances from the Indies, the sale of juros and public offices, revolts against Castilian centralism.
